music legend chuck brown. >> today, brown's family is hold august public viewing at the new howard theater. that is where melanie alnwick is live with the details on what you can expect from today's tribute. good morning. >> good morning. >> reporter: this public viewing begins at 11:00 this morning. inside the howard theater, a very different kind of booking for chuck brown. just a short time ago, the horse arrived, a white hearse. it was carrying the casket of chuck brown and just like any long-time seasoned performer, the casket made its entrance through the side door. it was covered if protective blankets but underneath, we could see it was a shiny silver and tan casket. the godfather of go-go was supposed to rock the house here on april 21st but he fell ill shortly before that sold-out show. since his death, fans have been leaving small remembrances. today, the formal farewell begins. a hushed crowd will be able to walk past brown's iconic hat, his guitar, now sile enand a fete owe montage with recorded music. quite a contrast to what fans had expected from a chuck brown performance.
